Say It Saturday

Hello all. Today I want to tell you about the last Kids Club outing I took the kids on. I want them to learn about different kinds of trees and be able to name a few. I also want to teach  them to actually 'see' what they are looking at. I decided to take them to Phoenix First Assembly for a tour of the grounds in front of the church. This is a picture heavy post so I have decided to divide it into two parts. Next week I will show you the kids and their activities.

This is also the church were my daughter and grand daughter performs for the Christmas pageants and other programs.

The 4500-5000 seat three story auditorium of PFA sits in front of two small hills tucked into a bit of a valley. There are several buildings on the grounds and I must take pictures of the prayer chapel sometime to show you. It is higher than the surrounding area of homes and business and offers a nice view. It covers 60-70 acres I believe, and has beautiful fountains, grass and all the trees I wanted to concentrate on for that outing. There are plenty of trees, grass and of course - the water - to explore to keep the kids busy for a bit and serve my purposes. Yes, it is very hot here but we went early and didn't stay over long. Forecast for today is 119 degrees! Yikes!

The water feature starts at the base of the huge stained glass window and cascade down to a field of grass the size of a foot ball field. The water divides grassy areas planted with trees and has several places to cross to the other side. Can you see how far that is? Behind me, where I am standing taking this pic is the field.

I love those big Eucalyptus trees! They are very tall and have really big trunks. Most trees in the southwest are on the medium to small side. The different colors of the  Eucalyptus trees leaves in the morning light is fabulous! Evening light is just spectacular here. Next week I will show you the kids but I thought you might enjoy these photos today. Thanks for coming over and enjoy your weekend!

I am so glad you stopped by!

  2. The grounds are beautiful. I think a lot of people think of Arizona like they think of Texas: barren. Not so much!

  3. I did enjoy the photos. They are stunning! I love the simple lines that compliment the setting and the contrast of the trees and water with the openness. Very restful - perfect place to focus on God and community - and to bring those little girls for your special event!

  4. Connie,
Thank you for the party and for sharing your church. What beautiful grounds, I LOVE the waterfall and the stain glass window.
I am sharing Bawda Cakes and Coconut Syrup. Bawda is what our grandkids call my husband. They love his Buttermilk Pancakes.

  5. Thanks for hosting this great hop for us "mature" folks! I added one this week about making rennet from either purple thistle or nettle - no rennet! Have a great weekend, see you again soon!

  6. Yes thanks for hosting. As grandparents we are always happy to share our goings ons. This is absolutely a beautiful place. Our son lives in Texas in the Hill Country not barren at all. Our daughter visits Arizona a lot and says it is beautiful. The Bawda Cakes sound good.

  7. What wonderful photos and what a neat place. We live very close to the Crystal Cathedral and the grounds there are beautiful, too. I have taken visitors over for the tour but I have never taken Amara -- I should do that! Thanks for the idea. Sure hope you're surviving the heat. 96 here today but I know it is much worse where you are. Stay well my friend.
