* this post contains affiliate links* Here is a trick I think you will love as much as I do. A local high end spa here in the valley does this for their clients in the good ole summer time. It's super easy too.
Debra over at Frugal Little Bungalow has been responsible for me getting interested in a couple of things; quilting along with the Benjamin Biggs Quilt, and Twinning a rag rug. Thanks Debra! I have found that I love Twinning much more than crocheting for rag rugs. Very satisfying and addicting for me. My loom measures 26" x 38", it has nails across the top spaced at 1/2 inch intervals. It also has a metal rod down the side to keep the sides straight and not have them pull in. I can't imagine how hard it would be to have straight sides without that rod! I had a bit of a wobble even with it there.
Oh my I love this distressed chippy paint bowl project! The photography is wonderful and the tutorial is very good. A frugal easy DIY project to add to the beauty in your home. Really great gift idea here too ;) You will find the tutorial over at Anderson and Grant.
Great post! You have been Pinned! If you would like a featured buttonclick here.

Super easy and fun bibs for from drop cloth and fabric scraps! A great way to use up scraps and a fun way to use drop cloths too. Things need not cost a lot and free is always good. Like I always say, use what you already have. You can do that to make these bibs. See the tutorial over Hill House Homestead.
I wanted to have my 3 preschoolers make cards for their moms for Mother's Day and all the kids wanted to join in! The oldest 2 are 8 and they all did a good with the cards. It is of course an easy craft to make and it is great for fine motor skills. My little kids (we have 3 groups here now, big kids, little kids and babies :) practiced cutting with scissors and lacing.
As a grandparent, I have always planned to write my life stories down someday for my grand kids. Family stories are so wonderful to have and I most certainly love and cherish the oral stories passed down from my grandparents. (It would be so great to have those stories in writing!) But where to start? And what is is interesting about my life? Well I now have the perfect thing to jump start my memories and stories! Stories From My Grandparent, an Heirloom Journal for Your Grandchild has been put together by my blogging friend Susan Adcox. It is an heirloom journal that asked the questions for you; you just fill in the blanks! Oh it's wonderful and so easy to do! And I really do love that it's spiral bound and lays flat to easily write in. A perfect gift for the grandparent in your life.
Artterro Eco Art Kits asked me to review one of their lovely Eco Art Kits and in the process of emailing back and forth with them I told them about my Kids Club. Kids Club uses art journals as part of the learning process when we take field trips. Artterro was delighted to send me an Art Journal Kit for each of my 5 Kids Club members along with the Wool Felt Jewlery Kit. We were so excited to receive and begin to use these lovely journals! What wonderful gifts for each child!
Disclosure: I received free product for purposes of review. Opinions are my own. I am excited to tell you about Artterro, Eco art Kits! Artterro is an award winning company that offers quality art supply kits that are also eco friendly. When I agreed to do the review, I thought I would be receiving kits for kids....but let me tell you that while your kids will love Artterro Kits, the adults in the family will too! If you have read my blog very much you know I believe in teaching kids to sew. Learning skills like sewing and crafting is wonderful for kids self confidence. Skills that create an 'I can do it' attitude.
Look how cute this is?! I love pumpkin decor and these are fun easy and inexpensive! You can't get any better than that in my book. Barb at Second Chance to Dream came up with this wonderful Fall craft idea. Head on over there to see how you too can make these lovely pumpkins for your home or as a gift.
I have been trying to replace all my body care and beauty items with healthier and natural alternatives in an effort to be healthier. I am allergic to many things! Lotion bars are popular right now (you have probably lots of DIY's for them) and seem so easy to make so I decided to give it a try. I learn best by doing so I am sure I will be tweaking my process a bit as time goes on, but here is my first version and I wanted to share with you. I am happy to say it was very easy to make and I may never buy lotion again; yes I love it that much!
I have a few more Mother's Day Gift Ideas that you or a child can make for mom or Grandmother. Some are difficult and should be made by an adult, but others can be accomplished by a child with some help. Enjoy and Happy Mother's Day!
Are you intimidated by jewelry making? I am! Or rather I was; after reading through these post (links below) I really think I can do it! Now I just have to find the time.
Mother's Day will be here before we know it! I am looking around for some ideas that I can help the grand kids make for mom. I have included some ideas here for little ones to older kids. I'm sure you will find something you like.
I call these Pocket Purses and they are easy and fun to make! I made them for my grand daughters but I want one too. They would be perfect for going window shopping as they are the right size to hold the basic necessities, just add a longer handle. Add a different handle to dress them up or make them your own style.
Isn't this just the sweetest, cutest, prettiest thing you ever saw?! I have stopped by What Happens At Grandmas several times to have a look at them. Joyce made these for her grand daughters and I am absolutely in love! I'm trying to figure out how I can get adopted by one of her kids so I can qualify for one of these jars! I'm not going to tell you why she made them or from what - yes it is something special - because you should stop over to read for yourself. You made need a tissue like I did for the tear or two that I cried. I am sentimental like that!
Do you have family traditions? We do too. I try to be careful not to over load the family with following too many of them because family traditions can become chores rather than blessings. When we were expecting our first grand child, I wanted to have a gown and blanket for each child to use on their Dedication Day at church; like a Christening gown. A new tradition to follow.
Hello! My name is
Melissa and I blog over at Willamette Valley Wonder Woman. I have been
following Family Home and Life for quite some time and was
thrilled that Connie took me up on my offer to guest host for part of her
blogs anniversary month! I just have something so simple and easy to show you
guys, but it is so meaningful if you have any children in your life, whether it
be kids or grand kids, it really doesn't matter.
Papa made the kids a sandbox and they love it. It is easy to make one, and doesn't cost much. We choose to use 2x4's stacked two high to keep cost down but you could use a 2x8 instead to save some construction time and effort. We are all tease Papa around here because whenever he makes something, it's very well made; perhaps he puts more effort into his projects than necessary because it's a work of love!
This is a home made gift I keep on hand when I need something quick to give to a child. It's called the Peanut Butter and Jelly Game. Super easy to make, of course, it's inexpensive too. (you know me :) Kids from about age 4 to 8 love this game; some 3 yr olds may understand how to play too. The directions here are for enough pieces for 4 players.
1. I love this Tooth Fairy Pillow Book I made for my grand daughter. 2. Here's how to easily personalize a clock for yourself or a gift. I used a vintage graphic from the Graphics Fairy on one clock.
3. Butter Buns; need I say more? 4. I really loved designing and making this cloth Photo Album. It was fun and turned out great. 5. I am having more fun making these Pancakes different ways. Use apple sauce or any fruit puree, use oil instead of cream cheese, add more flour and switch up the spices. Very versatile and so good. 6. I like making my own scrapbook papers using PicMonkey. It's a great creative outlet and it was free; PicMonkey now charges for some of it's features. I have used Ribbet on occasion too.
