Easy Spa Trick using Lavender Spray

* this post contains affiliate links*

Here is a trick I think you will love as much as I do. A local high end spa here in the valley does this for their clients in the good ole summer time. It's super easy too.

Checking In!

Hey everyone, yes I am still kickin'! I disappeared for a while; I kinda imploded. Not a pretty picture. I was burned out big time with blogging and I had to take a step back and take care of me a bit. My food allergies had become so intense I was getting desperate for help, life was miserable! I knew I would have to get serious and come up with some kind of a plan to get better and quick.

A Hymn and It's History

This is a beautiful old hymn that I have loved since I was a child. You can only understand it's true meaning after you have lived through deep sorrows as well as deep joys. As the years have gone by, I love it even more. There is a wonderful peace that covers you when you get to a place with God where you can accept that all of life, even the painful areas are ok. Then this song becomes precious and brings you joy because you know it like a friend. If you would like to know the history of this hymn and about it's writer, click here and be sure to scroll down below to the history area.

Sugaring

Guest Post

I want to thank Connie for letting me be part of her special grandparenting blog, Family Home and Life. It is a real privilege to ‘write in’ for her today.

By way of introduction, I’m Judy, a retired Human Resources Executive and Master Gardener. I live across the country from Connie in New Hampshire on a small three-generation family farm, 1840 Farm

We have Nigerian Dwarf Goats for milk, Heritage Breed Hens, both standard and bantams for fresh eggs, and one handsome French Angora Rabbit, Herbert Menninger. Fans of Curious George will probably recognize where his name came from.

Starting New Traditions & a Blessing Blanket

Do you have family traditions? We do too. I try to be careful not to over load the family with following too many of them because family traditions can become chores rather than blessings. When we were expecting our first grand child, I wanted to have a gown and blanket for each child to use on their Dedication Day at church; like a Christening gown. A new tradition to follow.

Time Management & a Giveaway!

Guest Post

Hi there! I'm Michelle Muckala with www.michellemuckala.com and am SO excited to be part of Connie's anniversary month by guest blogging for all of her awesome readers! As a full-time working momma who is raising two young children, married to a husband who works opposite shifts as me, owns a health & wellness business, and writes articles about finding balance between a career and family, I hear a lot of women say they just wish they had more time. It's true that you can only do so much. I hear ya! After all, there is no way to make a day longer than 24 hours, a week longer than 168 hours, or a year longer than 8736 hours (and sometimes let's admit, we are glad for that). However, there is a way to make time work in your favor. I'm excited to share with you how I manage to make my crazy schedule work in my favor

Guest Post

Hello! My name is Melissa and I blog over at Willamette Valley Wonder Woman. I have been following Family Home and Life for quite some time and was thrilled that Connie took me up on my offer to guest host for part of her blogs anniversary month! I just have something so simple and easy to show you guys, but it is so meaningful if you have any children in your life, whether it be kids or grand kids, it really doesn't matter.

Arizona Travels

Business took my husband and I to the south east portion of AZ last weekend. then we took a little time off and enjoyed some touristy stuff while we were there. First stop, Tombstone, the home of the famous OK Corral shoot out.

Now we have been to Tombstone before so I wasn't necessarily interested in seeing another actor portrayed shoot out though they are a lot of fun to watch, or the other typical Tombstone scenes. I was interested in having a good meal and we had it on good authority that we would be happy with a meal at the Longhorn Restaurant. We had a very delicious meal there and the service was very good.

We asked our hostess at the Longhorn about seeing the sights and her recommendations since we had been there before and we had about an hour to walk around. She suggested the Court House, a $5 dollar entrance fee, as a must see. Then the St. Paul Episcopal Church, because the church was very well preserved and free to have look.

Then we headed east towards Wilcox, AZ, home to apple and pecan orchards, and several vineyards. We wanted to go to Apple Annie's and pick apples, shop in the bakery, and eat one of their delicious mesquite grilled burgers.

This was our first visit to Apple Annie's and it was crowded with families enjoying the beautiful weather. The second thing we noticed was that there is an aroma of baking apple pies that is to die for! We were disappointed though as all the apples had been picked from the orchards and we had made the trip especially for that reason many miles out of our way. Next time we will call ahead and check availability.

The bakery was filled with wonderful farm fresh goodies and things you would not normally find in a grocery store such as pickled Jalapeno Eggs, Chipolte Spice Olives and Peach Amaretto Pecan Honey Butter. Of course they have a selection of pies, ciders, cheeses and butter too. We bought a jar of honey, but soon left since there were no apples to pick with out the grilled burger or nary an apple.

If you are visiting in Arizona and want to take home something unique then think about a jar of Mesquite Blossom Honey, it has a wonderful desert flavor; or T shirts that are stained/dyed with the red dirt from around the Sedona redrock area. These two products are true Arizona and are readily found.

We enjoyed our travels and it was fun to play tourist for a little while.

I link at these parties.

Surfing

Over the last month or so I have been posting photos with scriptures written on them on Sundays. They mostly have to do with 'water'. A couple of weeks ago, in the middle of a -do it yourself with the help of a professional- carpet installation I found myself having a full out melt down. You see, I provide child care for my grand kids during the week (3 are right about 2 yrs old), and I run a part time business out of my house that gives my husband and I part time work on the side. In the midst of the carpet installation that wasn't going so well, 2/3 of our house mysteriously lost electric power. We ran extension cords where we needed electricity and continued on with the carpet installation until there would be time to deal with this new issue.
