Say It Saturday

Hello all! What a busy week it was around here; actually all of September has been and will be really busy for us as a family! We are looking at 2 birthdays this this coming week, and I need to spend the rest of the weekend making gifts. I took a little time yesterday afternoon to plant a few fall plants and finally set out a few veggie starts I bought a couple of weeks ago for fall. Yes, they are late and all I can say to that is...what's new?!

My poor husband was called unexpectedly into work last evening and I used the time to try and get caught up on my blog reading. One nice thing, for me anyway, when the man of the house is gone at dinner time I don't need to cook. I had chips and salsa for dinner and that saved me some time. I use to like to cook but not anymore. I only cook out of necessity these days.

What do you do when you find yourself unencumbered with the responsibility of cooking a full meal; do you cook for yourself anyway or do you find any ole thing in the fridge to avoid cooking?
I am so glad you stopped by today!

  1. Morning, Connie! :) Either I am cooking a BIG meal for all of the family or just have to worry about myself. I do have a regular meal for just me but it is generally a salad, half of a potato, some sort of meat...then the same the next day. Or spaghetti for 2 or three days / lots of leftovering goes on here, lol! :) Pretty soon it will be SOUP Weather here! :)

  2. I just had a week where my husband went to help an out of town relative and it sure was nice to just worry about myself - not only at dinner, but in being able to leave a mess in the hallway while I purged closets crammed with junk! I can get 10x as much done when I am alone! But it sure is nice to see him walk in the door after I've identified a list of things that need repair! "Teamwork!" lol

  3. Thank you for hosting, Connie! I love your dinner of chips and salsa! It's definitely luxurious to have absolutely anything you want for dinner...popcorn, cheese and crackers, whatever. :)

I visited my dad for his 96th birthday last weekend. I took him a chocolate cake and a half gallon of his favorite ice cream, Praline Pecan. He told me that the next evening, my mom asked him what he wanted for dinner, and he said all he wanted was a big bowl of that ice cream. So that's what he had. :)

Hope you have a great weekend!

  4. Usually I make myself a fruit smoothie or raid the refrigerator from my husband's wonderful leftovers and take that rare opportunity to read, undisturbed.

  5. Only HH and I home now. When we cook we do it together or he does it. But when we do we make enough for a couple of days. That way we only cook big meals about 3 times a week. I am so blessed. He does all the grocery shopping too. I hate to cook and especially to shop for food, or anything else, for that matter.

  6. Hi, fellow Phoenician. I live alone, so dinner is pretty much whatever I want it to be. Sometimes it's a sandwich or snack, but the other night I made fried chicken and gravy, which I haven't made in years. I buy the pack of individually frozen chicken breasts at Costco, which works well for me.

  7. Hmmm....cooking is my way of relaxing. I do like that I get to cook what I want. No votes and no one else's menus when I have had a long day at work. Although, my favorite times are still when all my family is gathered for a meal and looking for their favorite foods. Chips and salsa sounds pretty good and like there wasn't too much clean up though. Thanks for the party!

  8. Cereal would work for me, but too many carbs and sugar. Usually I stick a piece of tilapia in -- takes 10 minutes and it's healthier.

Can't wait to see what you're making.
