Mason Jar Monday, Buttons for Lisa

Kids love to play with buttons, they are pretty and fun to sort. I remember playing with my mother's button collection and my grandkids enjoy playing with my button collection. It’s a fun tradition that has been passed down without even a second thought.

I have a friend, Lisa, over at Grandma’s Briefs and she recently wrote a post about buttons. It seems that most grandmas have a button jar, box, tin, or whatever to hold some sort of a button collection. I am no exception here, I too have a jar of buttons collected over time and it contains some handed down from my mother.

So after I read Lisa’s post I decided to play with my button collection myself, looking for that magical fascination buttons seem to hold for little eyes.  I poured my buttons out and pushed them together in a pile. I sorted through some colors and ones I thought extra pretty.

I made an L shape, for Lisa of course, then pushed them up close against the jar.

I noticed they were in a heart shape sort of so I manipulated them into a more formed heart shape.

I was thinking about Lisa as I did this and thought about her love of her family and those cute grandsons of hers.  I thought about how she loves on her friends and on her blog readers. If you know anything about Lisa you know she LOVES with a capital L! Yes Lisa is a wonderful person to have in your life. Hmmm another L word;  Lisa…Love…Life.  Lisa lives life lovingly.

So here’s to you Lisa, my friend, my blogging buddy and confidante. This one, a Jar of Buttons, is for you.  Happy Monday!

  6. I couldn't agree with you more Connie. As yet I have never had the pleasure of meeting Lisa, one day I hope that will happen. From across the seas she has been so supportive of me and what I'm trying to achieve, her love comes through. I feel honoured that she considers me a friend, I so admire what she does. How fortunate we are to see the advent of the internet and how it connects people from the four corners of the earth. I am blessed with finding friends like you and Lisa, the bond that connects us can't ever be broken. Hugs

  7. I have sweet memories of playing with my grandmother's box of buttons as well...sorting them by size, by color, by those that were my favorite and those that weren't. It makes me sad they were probably just given away instead of passed down when she died. Now I am determined to fill up a box with buttons for my grandkids to play with!

  9. I love your heart and LISA patterns! What a creative way to play with buttons. I wrote a post that is an extension of what I learned back in the day, when I was a computer programmer - how to recognize patterns, in this case, using buttons. Just found your blog because of the Mason Jar post. Will be back.

  11. So cute....I could actually see your buttons in a video clip, you know the kind...where it looks like the buttons are moving on their own to create things? so fun!
My mom still has her button tin...but I have started my own and it's so fun to just run your fingers thru. Thanks for the smile! ♡
