Peanut Butter & Jelly Game

This is a home made gift I keep on hand when I need something quick to give to a child. It's called the Peanut Butter and Jelly Game. Super easy to make, of course, it's inexpensive too. (you know me :) Kids from about age 4 to 8 love this game; some 3 yr olds may understand how to play too. The directions here are for enough pieces for 4 players.

You will need felt in three colors. I much prefer the felt that comes on a bolt in the fabric store to the little squares you buy. It's a better quality usually. You won't need a lot, only 9 or so inches of each. Also a square block of wood, glue and scissors. Cut out your pieces.
Trace around the block and cut out the felt pieces. Generously apply glue to the surface of the block and press the felt square onto it. Make sure to glue to the edges. If you are making this game for a very small child make sure your block is large enough not to be a choking hazard. Glue all sides using the same color felt on opposite sides.

I have chosen to make a lunch bag to keep the game in but you could use a variety of things as a package.

Build your sandwich with a roll of the block, each player gets one turn to roll. You must begin and end with bread.
The label is paper attached with double sided tape.  Place everything inside your bag and you have a fun easy and inexpensive game.
You don't really need a template but if you would like one you will find it here along with the label. Printing onto card stock is the best way to go :)

I link at these parties.

  1. This is so cute! I like the simplicity of it. My younger grandkids always want to play games too, but are overwhelmed by the rules and the complexity of the boards. This one is easily understood and playing starts immediately.
I love the snappy storage "lunch bag" too!

  83. Connie, this is absolutely adorable! I love it. Wish I had seen it when my kids were still little. Will keep it in mind for future grand kids. Oh dear, should I start a new Pinterest board? I think I will, and this will be the first Pin! I love that with the felt on the cube, it can probably be a fairly quiet game to play, maybe even in church to keep little ones occupied. Very creative. So glad you shared. And thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such a sweet comment. I'm looking forward to checking out more of your blog!
